Privacy notice
When you add your name or sign the petition, we collect your name, email address and, if you give it, your postcode. We use these only to record your support, send you a confirmation email and occasional campaign updates, and — from the postcode — show how support is building area by area. We never sell your data or share it with third parties.
Who runs the campaign: One Ayrshire is a non-partisan campaign operated by PSA Studio, which is the data controller for your information.
Where it's stored and who helps us: your details are held securely in our database (hosted by Supabase). Confirmation and update emails are sent through Brevo. We use a double opt-in — you're only added to the list once you click the link in our email. These providers process your data on our behalf under contract.
Public blockchain record (stopped on 25/09/2026): until 25/09/2026, when you confirmed a petition signature, a record was written to a public blockchain (Polygon) so the total could be counted independently. The record was a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address, together with your council area. It did not contain your name, or your email address as readable text. However, anyone who already knows an email address can calculate the same hash and check whether it is in the record, so an entry can be linked to the person who owns that address. Records already written to the blockchain cannot be changed or removed, by us or by anyone else. We stopped writing new records on 25/09/2026 and we are reviewing the records already written. We will update this notice when that review is complete.
How long we keep it: we keep your details for the life of the campaign. You can ask us to remove them at any time and we'll delete them from our database. (If you confirmed your support before 25/09/2026, the blockchain record described above was written then and cannot be removed.)
Your rights: you can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time, and you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we handle it. Contact [email protected].
